There's a little bit of Mars chocolate on the dial of my dslr, probably got it from my midnight snack. Nevertheless, it gave me a general sense of well being. Both of it.
Organized by The New Paper and Canon, the contest is open to all from the age of 16 to 35. The overall winner will have the chance to set his career path of being an official photojournalist, after serving an internship with The New Paper for 4 weeks as a training foundation. In addition, he or she will also get a dSLR system worth $5,000 which comprises of a Canon EOS 30D body, 430EX flash, 3 pro-grade prime lenses – 24mm F2.8, 50mm F1.8, and 100mm Macro F2.8 and the new Pro9000 A3-sized photo printer.
Contestants are required to submit 3 photos, one for each of the 3 themes Scenery, People and Action. No additional retouching is allowed except for colour correction, exposure correction, cropping, sharpening and resizing.
So far, I've chosen 3 of my best photos which I personally think suits in the themes. The top photo was taken during my recent Phuket trip. The middle was at Hard Rock Hotel in Bali, but taken with my Sony compact. The bottom was during a corporate soccer match. I'm not really confident though, since god knows there are much better photographers and photos out there submitted for the contest.
Anyway, Gum got her entry submitted, Amsyari is waiting for me to submit so I probably guess he'll be mad if he finds out, and Nat - I'm not really sure if she's interested in the contest anyway since her only ambition is to rule over the world with designer chemicals!!!
Met up with SK at Bukit Panjang Plaza to hand over the coloured sequential pieces. I guess he felt elated when he saw it. Had trouble with printing the 7 pages earlier in the morning. I actually had to go down to the store for the replacement inks 3 times; for the colours Yellow, Magenta and Cyan. The printer's status monitor is so damn unreliable. Although the printer's colour profile is not really in tune with the document's, I felt contented since I managed to finish it on time.
Soon after that met up with Dina at Hereen. Her boss is around so we didn't really have time to talk. She seemed more cheerful now, guess that now she's no longer single, and probably that makes her a better person. Felt happy for her anyway. By the way I waited for little more than half and hour to get to Somerset MRT since it was raining so heavily. Got drenched because I walked all the way, didn't even think about running since my slippers are so slippery! Rather get wet than pulling a stunt on the streets.
Got home, and brother needed to go out. At least dad got someone to look after at home. This morning dad went out alone again, but I realized only after I woke up. Thank god nothing happened.
Couldn't meet up with Nat at Starbucks NP, as well as the rest of the guys for 300. Maybe next time. By the way thanks Nat for the proof reading! Kisses!
Much of the junk in the house were removed, and the rooms were painted all white. My bro also managed to cover up the cracks on the kitchen ceilings, not to mention patched up the piece of cement that dropped off the other day. Thank god no one was at the kitchen when that happened.
I guess I have plans on how my room will be like. One thing is for sure, it'll have rasterbated walls and nice sofabed!
For now, I'm keeping myself busy on colouring a comic project with Kamarul. Damn I feel like I could be doing this for a living!
Well Nat, how about the tripod and the number 300?
Things have been really in a mess here in my house, literally. My brother have been so busy doing some minor restoration of the walls and ceilings, before inviting the people from the HDB to come over and calculate the evaluation. By the way we're planning to move out soon, to a new bigger unit a few blocks across the road. I still need to re-paint this very room, but I doubt I could do it unless on my day off.
There's so much to do but so little time.
Took some photos of last week's match. It was already started to rain just before the commencement of the first half, but I managed to get a shot of the team's photo! Nevertheless I snapped away till the end of the game despite the almost exhausted battery. Photos are still being uploaded as I type, and they're available here.
There goes my holiday stint to Bali and Phuket respectively. It was really a tiring week, but nevertheless I had a great time. Photos are up here and at deviantART, as well as the rest of the snaps.
Bali is alluring. The people are friendly, and the culture is magical. Too bad the guys I came with didn't have much outdoor activities in mind, except for shopping and more shopping. Probably save the adventure tours and ATV rides for my next return =)
My trip to Phuket in the contrary was stocked with so much activities. The guys didn't bother much about shopping, thanks to Shila whom insisted on spending the day with island hopping and leave the remaining of the day at the local massage parlor.
I'll be busy uploading the remaining photos I took at Phuket. Not much tho.. scuba and dslr don't really mix =/
I've finally tweaked my laptop, adding an extra 1 GB of memory. It totaled 1.2 GB on the system since I left the original 256mb on the board. No more of those irritating lags which got my head banging on the keyboard. Initially I've brought one piece of the 512 chipset along to Funan, but the store advises me to bring along my lappie so they could figure out the other hidden piece buried deep within. Isit just the manufacturer's policy to bury the other half of the ram so that the consumer will eventually get back to them for upgrades or service? I bet so, and I later found out that another ram chip was etched underneath this very keyboard - and what a hassle to take it out!
After a hard day's work, I still can't get myself to sleep... at least not after playing some Prey. All the portals and gravity walkways were enough to put me into a state of nausea with an added pinch of brain aches. Nevertheless I felt like Prey is the first of its kind as a Cherokee inspired spiritual shooter for the Xbox 360.
Another photo outfield later at noon, and this time Dina will be joining the bandwagon. Amsyari will be around too, and perhaps if snapping photos don't quite fill in the whole of Monday, there's always the cinema.
Right now I'm having poor time management. I'm juggling two games, mainly Enchanted Arms and the newly acquired Prey along with cumbersome work schedule and time wasting sleep. Apart from that there's the house chores, social networking, photo outfields, personal entertainment (television to be precise) and the ever important meal times. I guess this is life.
Amsyari just got himself a new 70-300 mm tele-macro lens. I gawked merely by reading his sms yesterday. Nevermind that, what's more important is that I need to get back to the store at Peninsula Plaza to exchange that step-up ring. Seems like 55 - 58 mm and 58 - 55 mm are two different dimensions. I mean, that's what I found out when I got home (slaps forehead).
Just another day off from work, and my legs feels like Spongebob’s. I reckon there’s alot of things to do today, but unfortunately I couldn’t decide on the order of how to accomplish them in a single day. Just to name a few, the room needs cleaning, my Oly needs cleaning, the Xbox360 needs a gamertag, my blog needs a face lift and I need sleep! The urge to go out and actually take photos falls somewhere in the middle of the list. Tried to sms a particular friend but ended up exchanging brief messages with his girl. Yikes! I better stay away!! Realizing an anomaly of oneself, I keep storing the wrong numbers (i.e: my friend’s girlfriend’s) in my contact list these days. God forgive me.
Been feeling this beautiful song these days. I recall falling in love with it the first time I heard it over Class 95.
